Earthrise : Development taken by SilentFuture

331_81It seems that the nex-gen German VGA gaming developers known as Silent Future ( SF / SlientFuture ) has revived Earthrise, the futuristic MMO that was canceled last February. We are posting the press release in its entirety as it was sent to us.

Alpha Statement: The new Earthrise

The closed alpha stage ONE of Earthrise officially has started. SilentFuture revamped many of the systems used in Earthrise and focused on fundamental factors such as network and server performance. A new network layer was implemented and the Flash based GUI was replaced with a HTML5 one, that enables the players to customize their HUD and implement own functionality.

The sandbox gets an overhaul that the player gets a bigger impact. SilentFuture focusing the RPG factor with third person fast-paced action combat. The gameplay gets more cooperative and shooter like.

Earthrise will be completely free to play. For the funding of further development of Earthrise SilentFuture will offer micro transactions, that allows the player to personalize and individualize their character without affecting the gameplay. Further there will be service offers like additional character slots. SilentFuture is completely against a “pay2win” concept.

The estimated launch date isn’t fixed, as SilentFuture CEO Daniel Schemann explains:

“We work hard to bring you a stable release, and we won’t rush and throw it out. Development takes time and when we getting near a possible release we will inform the community. Until this we have the alpha/beta running mostly 24×7.”

The Account registration is online and you are able to register to become eligible for selection as closed alpha/beta tester at http://www.play-earthrise.com/account/register

NOTE: Registration does not guarantee entry into the Earthrise closed alpha/beta.

Age of Empires Online ceases content development

What you see right now in Age of Empires Online is what you’ll get… forever. Microsoft Studios announced that it’s ceasing any further development on the title effective immediately due to finances. The studio will release a “small amount of content” in the near future, but following that, the game’s features and civilizations will be set in stone as it moves into a support phase.

That doesn’t mean the game’s getting cancelled, however. The announcement emphatically states that Age of Empires Online will continue to operate as is, will have future community events, and it is not “dying.”

The amazing Pirate101 plows into 2013

pirate

What’s so good about Pirate101? Every time we make a post about this game, it’s a new opportunity to use pirate-speak.

Avast ye scallywags and pay attention to KingsIsle’s Jay Gordon, who’s got a new producer’s letter for the powder monkeys who play the game.

Amid raising the flag and giving a pep talk to the crew, Gordon does slip some scuttlebutt about what’s coming to Pirate101 this year: “Looking ahead, 2013 is going to offer a veritable treasure trove of all-new pirate adventures and we can’t wait to unveil new worlds, quests, game play features, ships, equipment and the wide variety of companions and fantastic combat attacks now in the works.”

Patch 5.2 PTR the warlock data is here

Patch 5.2 Warlock Island / Area

Adriacraft have been at it again, datamining what is believed to be the containing zone for an element of the warlock-specific “green fire quest” area. On first look, the zone itself, though not the map, appears to bear a striking visual resemblance to the zone in which the Obsidian Sanctum raid takes place, but with additional items added.

It seems from a brief glance at Wowhead’s warlock-specific quests that the majority of the currently known quests refer, as expected, to the Black Temple, without mentioning another zone. Could this “island” be an instanced area accessed from within the Black Temple? It looks far too fiery for that to me at least, but with the little we know about the Council of the Black Harvest, also known as the Council of Six Daggers, and their ties to other, older zones, it could be that this is some area associated with that group.

What do you think? I know I’m really pleased I leveled my warlock, these quests look really exciting, even with our very limited knowledge of how it will all unfurl. Do note, as ever, that this is datamined information, and place an according amount of weight upon it. Let’s hope this leads to more class-specific quests in future!
