078576543476Square Enix has announced that the latest update, “Dreams of Ice”, will launch across all Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn servers. Players will be able to check out the Ninja and Rogue as well as a pair of new dungeons, new real estate options and more.

Final Fantasy XIV ARR: Heavensward Expansion Coming 2015

At this past weekend’s Final Fantasy XIV fan festival in Las Vegas, Square Enix announced that the first major expansion for the game, Heavensward, will be arriving in 2015. The expansion will bring airships and a new race into the game.

With a fresh logo from legendary artist Yoshitaka Amano and a name that evokes reaching towards the heavens, the spring 2015 expansion pack for the award-winning MMORPG finally sees players heading towards the Northern city of Ishgard. The focus of the expansion’s story will the the 1,000 year-old Dragonsong War between Ishgard and Dravania and the players’ role in the conflict and its potential end.

Along with a massive adventure in the north, Heavensward will be adding a ton of fresh features to the game, including:

  • Level cap raise from 50 to 60 across all jobs and professions.
  • Massive new areas.
  • A new player race with both male and female characters.
  • Multiple new jobs.
  • New Primals, one of which will be completely unique to FFXIV.
  • Many new dungeons — more than 3 or 4.
  • High-end raids
  • Airships, Airship, Airships — Free Companies can band together and build their own airships.
  • New gear and recipes.

RIFT: Tarken Glacier

As the release date for the Rift expansion, Nightmare Tide, nears, the developers are giving players a chance to learn a bit more about some of the locations they’ll encounter along their journey.

Tarken Ascent

Your summit starts at Tarken Ascent, a famous climb from Draumheim into the great trench that trisects Tarken Glacier. After scaling its wall of ice, you’ll discover an open plateau holding frozen wastes, violent creatures, and two peoples in need: skelf pilgrims in search of their oceans of origin and the panicked researchers of Ghar Station Tau.
