Blizzard Entertainment has announced that World of Warcraft players raised over $2.3 million to be donated to the American Red Cross to assist victims of Hurricane Sandy. The money was raised through sales of the Cinder Kitten in-game pet. 100% of the cost of the Cinder Kitten was donated to the ARC.

Blizzard Entertainment and Art Nucleus have announced that tonight will mark a special exhibition of works from the forthcoming “Art of Blizzard Entertainment” book. The California event will mark the first time the book can be purchased.
Gallery Nucleus is having a book launch and art exhibit for the release of “The Art of Blizzard Entertainment”. During the opening reception, January 12, 2013 / 7pm-11pm, several of the artist featured in the book will be here to speak with attendees and sign books. Gallery Nucleus is the first place fans can purchase a copy of the new art book. We are also releasing four official “Blizzard” prints for a limited time. Fans who can’t make it to the opening but want a signed copy can order on the website. I hope this piques your interest enough to let your members know about this exciting event. Blizzard Entertainment has released a brand new trailer to show off some of the locations and denizens that players will encounter when the World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria v5.2 patch goes live. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments!
Adriacraft have been at it again, datamining what is believed to be the containing zone for an element of the warlock-specific “green fire quest” area. On first look, the zone itself, though not the map, appears to bear a striking visual resemblance to the zone in which the Obsidian Sanctum raid takes place, but with additional items added.
It seems from a brief glance at Wowhead’s warlock-specific quests that the majority of the currently known quests refer, as expected, to the Black Temple, without mentioning another zone. Could this “island” be an instanced area accessed from within the Black Temple? It looks far too fiery for that to me at least, but with the little we know about the Council of the Black Harvest, also known as the Council of Six Daggers, and their ties to other, older zones, it could be that this is some area associated with that group.
What do you think? I know I’m really pleased I leveled my warlock, these quests look really exciting, even with our very limited knowledge of how it will all unfurl. Do note, as ever, that this is datamined information, and place an according amount of weight upon it. Let’s hope this leads to more class-specific quests in future!
